Davids Belvoir adventure

Catherine and I did the Belvoir Challenge in the UK last Saturday; a 15 mile trail race across field paths, woodland trails etc.  It is a splendid event; postcard villages, wonderful views, friendly company etc.

It is not so much a race as an event where you plod along enjoying it since there are so many fences, stiles, ditches etc to cross, as well as an escarpment to climb, that times are meaningless. At minus 2C it was cold at the start but on the high plateau the wind chill was enough to kill sheep!  At least the wind had dried the land to pasty mud rather than liquid stuff so underfoot was alright.

The event always has a lot of walkers so they have developed a reputation for good food and one of the photos shows the refreshment table at mile 6 !!

Get your ass in motion for TABOR & SVdeP

If you want to raise some badly needed funds for local charities while getting fitter, mark the 8th March in your diary.  Trim AC will stage an evening 3km run around the town. The club organised two similar races last year which proved popular with the many walkers joggers and runners in the area.
This race is being organised to raise badly needed funds for Tabor House and the Trim branch of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Tabor House is a ten bed residential secondary addiction treatment centre in Navan. The SVdeP is the largest voluntary charitable organisation in Ireland. The aim of the St Vincent de Paul Society is to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need. More details will be published in the near future and on the club facebook.

AGM Wednesday 20 Feb.
